Android TV
Android TV is a version of the Android operating system. It is developed by Google for soundbars, set-top boxes, digital media players, and TVs with native applications. It is a replacement for Google TV. The Android TV platform was first launched in June 2014.This platform has also been adopted as smart TV middleware by a company such as Sharp and Sony.
History
- Android TV was first announced at Google I/O in June 2014, as the successor to the unsuccessful Google TV.
- Google discloses the first Android TV device, the name Nexus Player developed by Asus at a hardware event in October 2014.
- An ADT-2 was released earlier than the release of Android TV 9.0.
- The Android TV and ADT-3 are both released together on December 10, 2019.
Features
Android TV platform is the adaptation of the Android operating system for a set-top box. It has integrated software on smart TV hardware. The Android TV facilitates the voice input for commands and universal search across multiple services. Android TV also supports software from "Google Play Store", which includes media apps and games (however, not all the Google Play apps are compatible with Android TV).
